they say the dead tell no tales. i disagree.

they whisper on the spring breeze, and wish upon stars.

it was my joy and pleasure to participate in last year's auction.

this year i offer my shrine in prayer for the children of oaxaca as well as in honor my mother, who passed on last year.

the wishing on a star shrine was constructed from an upcycled amazon.com box(not mine, i go to the library or buy from my local bookstore!), fulled second hand sweater, salvaged ribbon, silk damask, thread, flowers, beads which tumbled to the floor as we put our mother to rest, and my prayer that every child born will be held and nurtured by all members of their community.

I mentioned this on Rebecca's blog but will say it here again~I love the fact that this piece is both made from upcycled materials and that Calavera is made of fabric~so unusual and wonderful!

I love the way that your shrine is surprising in the simplicity of the outside and the rich darkness of the inside. A lovely way to honour your mother and all children.

I see your piece as hopeful...reaching high to create a better life, a better world. Very profound.

This strikes me as sad and hopeful, not sure why it just does. Peaceful too.
